Healing Properties of Naphthalan Oil

Naftalan oil is a unique form of treatment that has no analogues in the world. Naphthalan oil is a thick, black-brown liquid with a specific aromatic odor. Naphthalan has high viscosity, an acidic reaction, high specific gravity (0.91 - 0.96), a high boiling point (220 °C and above), and a low freezing point (-20 °C). When mixed with water, it forms a relatively stable emulsion. Naphthalan has a complex chemical composition and is a high-resin, low-sulfur, paraffin-free oil with almost no light fractions such as gasoline, kerosene, and naphtha.

Therapeutic Properties of Naphthalan Oil
The main active principles of naphthalan are naphthenic hydrocarbons, which have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and vasodilating effects. These effects are due to the presence of the cyclopentane-perhydrophenanthrene skeleton, which is a component of many enzymes, hormones, and other physiologically active substances. It stimulates allergic and trophic functions, increases the intensity of metabolic processes, and enhances spermatogenesis. Additionally, it accelerates ovulation and oogenesis processes.
Naphthalan baths (general, sitting, chamber) are used in the form of naphthalan lubricants heated by a Sollux lamp. Native (natural) naphthalan is used for baths, while both native and resin-free naphthalan are used for lubrication. Naphthalan purified from resinous compounds is superior to local naphthalan due to its antibacterial effect and does not irritate mucous membranes. Therefore, it is successfully used both on the skin and in the form of tampons and baths, as well as in the form of membranes for the gums, throat, nose, and for oil inhalations, to lubricate the mucous membrane for ultraphonophoresis.
Naphthalan baths are set at a temperature of 37 - 38 °C, and the duration of one bath is 8 - 10 minutes, with a course of treatment consisting of 10 - 12 baths.
